Thailand : Medical Advisor (OMF)
TEAM is partnering with OMF International in Thailand. OMF’s growing ministries in east Asia include everything from church planting, youth outreach, and medical ministries to teaching and working among minority people groups.
A medical advisor is needed for all aspects of medical care for missionaries in the Thailand Field. OMF International has developed an internal health service providing medical advise and preventative health care to its members and leaders. This service aims to enable colleagues to function as effectively as possible and to prevent premature attrition. Field Medical Advisors (MAs) work alongside field leaders as part of the field member care team. At the same time, they work as members of the international MA team, which is led by the International MA. This involves liaising with OMF MAs and Directors worldwide. Thai medical registration is currently unobtainable but limited in-house medical care of OMF colleagues is possible. A wide range of medicines is readily available over the counter, plus access to diagnostic services and ancillary medical care.
-Perform regular medical examinations of field personnel, adults and children
-Be available for consultation as needed, either in person or by telephone or e-mail
-Maintain awareness of available medical services in each region where OMFers are based, and establish relationships with local Thai medical personnel
-Facilitate medical consultations, investigations, treatments, hospitalization and recuperation as necessary
-Maintain field medical records
-Communicate with IMA, other MAs and Directors regarding field health matters.
