Japan : English Teacher (Tokyo, TMMI)
Be a part of starting a new church by using innovative methods to build bridges to the gospel in an unreached area of downtown Tokyo.
Teach English conversation classes at the SonRise Café. This would involve planning lessons and scheduling customers. For adults, the lessons are conversation practice only, not actual lessons in English. For children, there are two types of classes: 1) one or two students with lesson plans (teaching English, not just conversation) and 2) group lessons with small children and mothers. (simple English learned through songs, games, and simple lessons).
No previous Japanese language is required (although always welcomed). Studying and the use of Japanese would be an expected part of ministry for mid-termers. We would ask that Japanese study begin several months before arriving in Japan. We would help potential candidates with this. Ten hours of Japanese study a week would be part of their weekly schedule after arrival.
