World Region: Europe

Austria

Less than 0.5 percent of Austrians publicly identify themselves as "evangelical,” yet the numbers are growing and an evangelical identity is becoming more accepted. TEAM is helping Austrian evangelical churches start and develop biblical, reproducing, load-bearing, and culturally relevant churches in strategic areas of the country by using a broad range of skills including social work, music, the arts, youth work, and counseling.

Czech Republic

The Czech Republic is a post-communist and decidedly post-Christian society, ranking among the world's most atheistic societies. But a spiritual revolution is brewing in the Czech Republic. TEAM is spreading the Gospel in a culturally sensitive way and using new methods such as the Common Grounds coffee house to build relationships.

European Diaspora

The European Diaspora population is made up of millions of Muslims from North Africa who come to Europe in search of a better life. Many of these young people struggle to fit into European life and yet they no longer feel completely at home in North Africa. In countries where there is religious freedom, there are plenty of opportunities to work with these young people in a variety of educational settings and community centers.

France

France is a post-Christian, post-modern society where only 0.8 percent of the people are evangelical, and the number of Muslims is currently nine million people and growing. Despite this challenging environment, missionaries are making a difference, and the number of evangelical churches has doubled over the last thirty years. TEAM is working together with established French church associations to start new churches, placing a high value on working together in teams that fit into the local culture.

Germany

Germany's nominal Christianity conceals a liberal, secular, and post-modern perspective that views the Christian faith as irrelevant to life. The evangelical community in Germany numbers not quite two percent of the population, and it faces significant challenges in gaining a strong public identity. TEAM is working with committed evangelical communities that are making a difference in German society, and the great hope is that their impact will grow as they see what God is capable of doing through his church.

Greece

With less than 75 missionaries serving the spiritual needs of 11 million Greek citizens, some consider Greece to be the most needy mission field in Europe. This place of beauty and grandeur is also home to people experiencing poverty and desperation due to high unemployment and an ongoing financial crisis. TEAM is partnering with Hellenic Ministries in Greece, whose growing ministries range from taking care of the downcast and ministering to refugees, to distributing New Testaments, to sailing and water sports outreach activities.

Ireland

TEAM is working in areas of Ireland that are clearly un-evangelized or under-evangelized. Our purpose is to serve the Irish evangelical community by helping Irish believers reproduce local churches in areas where no Gospel witness exists.

Italy

Italy is a romantically enchanting country famous for ancient history, magnificent architecture, unsurpassed cuisine, and world-class soccer players, yet it is spiritually dead. Less than 1,500 of its 30,000 cities and towns have a church that clearly preaches the Gospel. TEAM missionaries in Italy are working to establish biblically sound Italian churches in northeast Italy, an area with few evangelical churches. We have several church planting teams working in partnership with local and international organizations to spread the Gospel in key cities.

Portugal

Less than one percent of people in Portugal know God in a personal way, and many think that God is distant and does not care about them. Evangelical churches historically have been small, struggling, and ineffective in reaching their communities, often meeting in tiny buildings hidden away on back streets. TEAM is making God's presence highly visible and strongly felt in Portugal, so that the local Body of Christ will effectively show His love to their communities.

Spain

Spain is known for its beautiful coastlines, its late nights, and its deep traditions. Many people today are searching for meaningful relationships and direction on their spiritual journey. We seek to walk with them, showing them how God's Truth has transformed our lives and can do the same for them.

Sweden

Because Sweden is one of the world’s most secularized societies, a generation of youth is growing up with little meaningful exposure to the Gospel. The generally affluent, post-modern, secularized-yet-spiritualized culture with its pursuit of personal happiness, rejection of official, historic religion, and hyper-personalized notions of truth has made Sweden a hard-earthed mission-field. TEAM is working to bring hope to this secular society and the small group of Christians that live there.

Ukraine

Ukraine is positioned at the crossroads between Western Europe and the Middle East and Asia, and the nation is in the midst of a transition from a post-Soviet society to a post-modern European nation. The religious landscape is dominated by the Eastern Orthodox Church, which offers more ritual and identity than a spiritual relationship with God. People are seeking to meet their spiritual needs through new age pursuits and experimenting with cults. TEAM missionaries are establishing indigenous, culturally sensitive, reproducing churches in the southwestern region of Ukraine while coaching national church planters and working with youth and sports ministry leaders.
